About Megan

Thanks so much for stopping by to learn a little more about me! I'm an artist based in Charlotte, NC where I live with my husband Glenn, our two boys (8 & 6), one girl (2), and one very lovable Field Golden Frank (5 months).

I have been painting for over 10 years and have been a professional full-time artist since 2021. My road to painting was far from linear. I had always been a very cautious person and very risk-averse. I shied away from any situation that would put me in an uncomfortable, new environment. For a concrete example, I didn't learn to ride a bike until I was in 4th grade because I was so scared to fall—ha! I also decided to attend law school at South Carolina after undergrad at NC State, which felt like a safe choice. Law school ended up being one of the best decisions of my life and was the beginning of me pushing the line between comfort and growth

After my husband and I both finished graduate school and I had passed the bar, we moved back to Charlotte (we both grew up here), and something just clicked. I was 27, working at a non-profit I loved, and he was working insane hours in banking. I had time on my hands and decided I was going to try something I had never had the courage to try—paint!

I took a six-session class at our local community college—I didn't even know what paints to buy—and I was hooked! I secretly painted in our guest bedroom for months. When I finished a few paintings for our own house, friends and family started asking for paintings. It really snowballed from there. I look at my early work and cringe but, as my friend Kathryn said, "We all have to start somewhere!"

In the past 10 years since I decided to be brave and try something new, I have been more open to making new friendships, trying new sports, creating new art completely out of my wheelhouse, hand-painting a textile line, and being open and honest with my followers on social media and newsletter subscribers. I try to be authentic to who I am in all areas of my life.

So, if you've made it this far, thanks for sticking around to read this! I truly love to create and feel like God has given me this blessing of painting and space to create. If anything, I hope my story encourages you to try something new and put yourself out there. You have no idea what doors your bravery may open.

Why "Daisy"?

If you know me in real life, you know most people call me Megan, but I gladly answer to Daisy or Megan Daisy. But for as long as I can remember, I have signed my full name on every paper and email. My full name is such an integral part of who I am. Named "Daisy" after my great-great-grandmother, the name has always given me a sense of belonging and rootedness. Daisy feels like a legacy I am carrying with me. "Daisy" is a name rooted in tradition but carries such a happy, whimsical spirit with it.

The first painting I created in 2015, I signed with "Daisy." It was intuitive and felt obligatory. Now, 10 years later, I think I picked that signature because the name carries the same characteristics I want my art and textiles to carry: happy, whimsical, joyful. So, each time one of my paintings is done and I put that final Daisy on it, I know that this painting is rooted in tradition and I pray it brings whimsical joy to the world.
